Changes Coming for Redeemer!

We have been blessed tremendously over the past while to be hosted by Winstead United Methodist Church, using their sanctuary on Sunday afternoons. Their congregation has given warm welcome and we have, in their beautiful space, learned and grown together in worship and fellowship; it has been a wonderful experience. Not very long ago, though, we began to feel a restlessness about this arrangement and, in prayer, discerned that the Lord was moving us to worship on Sunday mornings: it is the more appropriate time to gather in witness of the Resurrection, it would be more inviting to the community, and it would necessitate finding our own space in which to live the vision we have for our community.

So we prayed together and started looking around. With the help of realtor extraordinaire Mike Vick, we found just the space we need. For the last couple of weeks we have ordered furniture and cleaned and prepared. I have been icon shopping and scrubbing the bathroom (these are both very specialized pastoral skills, I assure you). VERY SOON I’ll announce to you the location for our new 10:30 Eucharist. You are all, of course, invited to worship the Lord with us at the Church of the Redeemer.

Those of you who follow this site, keep supporting us with your prayers. This is a big step for a small flock. We want nothing more than to serve our Lord and, in him, to serve Wilson. We know that our charism, our gift in grace, is a bit unusual for the area – we’ve been told that building this sort of church (evangelical, liturgical, charismatic)  in Wilson would be impossible. It doesn’t sound impossible to us; what God is doing in our lives is certainly for the benefit of more than just us! We want to discern together how our witness and worship can unfold here in our new home.
