Father Paul Edgerton, originally of Newport News, Va, came to Wilson in 2002 to be near family. Then a minister of the Church of God, he was active within the ministries of Farmington Heights Church of God and Community Christian School.
He married Christie, a missionary, elementary school teacher (and very patient woman), in 2006. Soon thereafter they began the transition to the Anglican way of faith. Paul teaches English at Hunt High School and Christie now works with a community support services provider in Wilson.
In September of 2008 Paul was ordained a priest in the Reformed Episcopal Church, an evangelical Anglican church which is itself a part of the renewal of biblical, orthodox Anglicanism and a leader within the Anglican Church in North America. At the behest of Bishop Daniel Morse, Paul and Christie were commissioned to lay the foundation for an Anglican parish here in Wilson.
Paul is a doctoral student at the Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies.
On June 6, 2009 Paul and Christie’s son, Isaac Andrew, was born. On October 10, 2010 their daughter, Elizabeth Renee, was born. Elizabeth spent four months as a patient in the Intensive Care Nursery at Duke University Hospital before coming home. The Lord has graciously helped her to recover (mostly) and thrive. Both Isaac and Elizabeth were baptized athe the Church of the Redeemer.
