Amen, amen! What Webber (who went to the REC seminary) affirms accords well with our rejection of that fourth erroneous doctrine. The bread on the table and wine in the chalice is not reverenced as containing or being the presence of God. The reception of the elements by faith, though, is a reception of Christ himself. It is only in the reception of that cup by faith that we say, along with St. Paul, “is not the cup…a participation in the blood of Christ?”

V. This Church condemns and rejects the following erroneous and strange doctrines as contrary to God’s Word:

First, That the Church of Christ exists only in one order of ecclesiastical polity:

Second, That Christian Ministers are “priests” in another sense than that in which all believers are “a royal priesthood”:

Dear Paul,
Greg shared about you and your new little daughter at the prayer meeting this past Tuesday, October 12, 2010. I just now heard about this link. You all are in my prayers and on my heart. My fourth child, Elliott, was born with a neuromuscular condition that was not confirmed until he was about nine months old. As he lay in The Intensive Care Nursery @ WakeMed, I remember well all the emotions of the concern, unknown, and love for our child. May Our Lord keep you all under “His Wings” as in Psalm 91.
