Service Audio 2/12/2012

About seventeen minutes of personal prayer ministry is cut after the Communion. The Lord spoke beautifully into a couple of lives, but that probably doesn’t belong on the web.

Throne Zone

This weekend I was blessed to teach at Throne Zone (I know, I know, Throne Zone!), a really great worship conference in Virginia Beach. Tyler came with me to play keyboard. We were thrilled at the invitation and even more thrilled at the reception we received. Now, this is the land of the flag-waving, dancing, prophetic worship, free praise for an hour crowd of all-out charismatics. This is also the land of the pastor who raised me and many old and new friends. I learn so much from being around these folks and their heart for God. I also have to remind myself that my collar is as strange to some of them as flags and banners and shofars are to some of us! The folks were wonderful, services great, the presence of the Lord refreshing.

I promised some folks that I’d post the PDFs of the notes for the four breakout sessions I taught. Here they is.

Redeemer folks interested in hearing the sessions, let me know. I have CDs as well.

Enjoy!

Ten minutes or so have been edited from this service because prayer and prophetic ministry took place…stuff that’s more for the family in the living room than for the guests on the front porch. Come on in, though, the Lord is doing great things at Redeemer!

Why Sundays?

Conversations with several folks over the past few days have centered on the issue of Christian worship on Sundays. Does it matter what day of the week we hold our services? Why do so many Christians insist on Sunday morning worship? Is there anything wrong with a Christian having as their primary weekly service a Friday or Saturday night service? While I would be the first to admit that there is, to my understanding, no clear Scriptural commandment to worship on Sunday mornings and that “because we always have” is a woefully inadequate reason for choosing Sunday morning for worship, I want to lay out briefly the logic by which Christians have indeed always agreed that the time of worship does matter and that Sunday morning is the appropriate time for primary public worship for Christians. Service Audio January 8, 2012

This week Father Paul was away to honor Bob Collins of World Outreach Worship Center, the pastor who raised him. The congregation had a service of Morning Prayer that included a homily from Dr. Ron Horner, a friend of this congregation who was gracious to share the Word. Dr. Horner spoke about how to maintain peace.
